When you went away
I never got to say
I love you.

For you were gone so far
that my words wouldn't reach you.

Hidden in your fortress,
walled tightly within.

Never letting me near.

Never seeing your fears;
the walls of toughness that you built;
standing even after death,
mocking me,
taunting me,
a spectre without form,
yet quite alive in me
killing me day by day,
kicking down my feeble blocks
not letting me build a bridge
that leads to a place
without you.
